Cauldron of Hate - OOC Rules Empty Cauldron of Hate - OOC Rules

The Cauldron of Hate is an Evil Role-Playing guild. As our numbers have grown, we have come to realize that there are certain rules that must be stated in order for everyone to have an enjoyable time while in game. The rules stated below are Out Of Character rules that every member within the Cauldron of Hate must follow. It is our hope that following these rules will enhance your Role Play and that of the others around you. If you have a problem with these rules, we are more than willing to hear any amendments to them. However, a majority of the officers have been Role Playing for over ten years, and have been Role Playing within the EverQuest realm since EverQuest 1 beta. If you feel like your petition to alter or add a Role Play rule is not being given its proper attention by the officer in charge of your section, please speak with Maldarae to voice your concerns.

1. The Cauldron of Hate is an Evil Role-Playing guild. You are going to come across many different perceptions on what evil is. Try not to be offended or take In Character stuff personally Out Of Character.

2. Our main location is in Neriak: The City of the Teir’dal. Please notice that it states Teir’dal, not Drow or Thexian. There are many cultural differences between the Drow, the Thexians and the Teir’dal. Because of this, we ask that you understand that we do not Role Play Drow or Thexians.
If you choose to use the Drow Language to enhance your Role Play, that is fine. But please understand that a great majority of people within the Cauldron of Hate do not know the Drow Language as they only have experience Role Playing in the realm of EverQuest and EverQuest 2 and not the Dungeon & Dragons world of Forgotten Realms (Faerûn).

3. Out Of Character chat is permitted in four places within the Cauldron of Hate: Group chat, the Guild’s Out Of Character channel that ALL newcomers are given access to (Please see your appointed officer if you have not been given the channel), private /tells, and of course the in-game Out Of Character channels. We do understand that the occasional slip-up does happen and Out Of Character comments do enter into Guild Chat or /says. Please be aware of where you are sending information.

4. Guild chat, says, tells, and shouts will be In Character (In Character) chat. Each crest (guild tag) that is handed out is made of pure adamantine with a small ruby imbedded into the back of it where the clasp is. This ruby acts like a scrying device where one can hear the goings on of the guild. *nods*, *bows*, *rolls eyes* cannot be actually heard through a scrying device. Therefore, please respond accordingly.

5. Guild chat, while monitored, should not be considered to be “child-safe”. The guild does allow for children to be guilded and will of course take appropriate steps in the event that a minor is listening to the Out Of Character channel and guild chat. If there is not a minor present, please know that the Out Of Character channel in particular will not be censored.

6. We understand that adults feel the need to cut loose, vent their frustrations, or feel the need to be vulgar or perverted. Those tendencies are in us all. Should there be a minor present, the Cauldron of Hate asks you to censor yourselves in the Out Of Character chat channel, and ask about the guild’s “adult-friendly” chat channel. We do this to help bolster a safe environment for parents to trust their kids around.

7. In Role Play, do not, under any circumstances, go into l33t-speek. LOL, Gamer-slang, plz, tks, will not be tolerated. The use of such language is strictly Out Of Character and should only be done in the authorized channels.

8. Except for the Out Of Character Channels or group chat, people in this guild will automatically assume that you are speaking to them IN CHARACTER. If you wish to speak Out Of Character in a private manner, please indicate such by use of “*ooc-“ or “((insert text here))”. If you are caught speaking Out Of Character in an In Character manner (i.e. use of l33t speek without the Out Of Character distinctions made), you will be reported to the Circle of Hate, and you WILL be spoken to about it. If the problem persists, say your goodbyes.

9. ALL Ranks will display their guild tags (cloaks are optional). The only exception to this is if you are an Apprentice in Hate, are a Merc, or you have a legitimate reason that has been approved by either Maldarae orOrionus.

10. ALL races, to include Teir’dal, are our enemies. The only exceptions to this are as follows:

    1. They are followers of the Will of Hate.
If they are followers of the Will of Innoruuk, then they have not yet realized the truth of things. However, there is the potential to open up their eyes, and are therefore tolerated.

    2. They are our own Mercs. Learn about them and what they believe, and let their non-compliance fuel your own Hate.
    3. They can be used.
    4. The Teir’dal race has the potential to open their eyes much more than other races. Try to convince them of their true path, combat their reasoning with logic and truth. If they won’t turn, they are our enemies.

11. ALL races who have embraced the Will of Hate are welcome. Only rare exceptions will be shown the depths and secrets that we have learned and harbor. The others will be used to further the Will.

12. Unless you have a LEGITIMATE ROLE-PLAYING reason for your character to not have a role-playing name (i.e. Ikeyn Conjur’it, Toolate Imbehindyou), your application probably won’t be approved. Only those names that have been explained on an In Character basis will be allowed to join. If you just created the character (under level 30) and you do not have an explanation, we suggest recreating the character and giving it a different, actual role- playing name. Once done, we would be more than happy to consider your application.

13. We know we’re an evil guild, but still be respectful to others around you unless they have earned your malice. Every time you log in your character, you represent the Cauldron of Hate. Even enemies can show respect for one another.

14. The Cauldron of Hate does NOT, at any time, condone or allow remarks against race, sex, religion, orientation, age, etc. You will be given ONEverbal warning if it is a minor offense. A major offense and you are removed without an explanation without the hope of coming back in.

Suggestion: Stay away from talk that involves religion or politics. Too much bad emotion can be stirred with either one.

15. Know the difference between In Character and Out Of Character.

16. Know the difference between a GAME and REALITY.

17. Do not take In Character comments personally. We’re evil. Evil and bad things are bound to be said and done on a regular basis. Suck it up.

18. Do not; I repeat, DO NOT bring drama into this guild. We all have enough drama in our real lives. We don’t want it in the place where we can find some relaxation. THIS IS A NO DRAMA ZONE! Break this rule, receive a warning. Break it again, and say good bye.

19. DO NOT move or harm another person’s character without their permission. If you intend on moving or harming their character, ASK PERMISSION FIRST. If you post such a situation, and you have permission, please state it in the post.

Example: Smiling down at Megan, Alfarinn stepped out of the limo and turned to offer her his hand in order to help her out. A bullet narrowly missed Alfarinn's ear, another making a hole in his shirt. Ok, now he was mad, this was a Versace, Damn it! One of his favorites! He pushed Megan back into the limo and clamored quickly inside, shutting the door behind him and reaching for a weapon. He'd apologize for rudely shoving her when projectiles were no longer flying. ((Out Of Character: Permission granted to shove Megan))

20. Similar to the previous one, do not react for another person's character in your thread without permission. The character belongs to another person and they might have chosen to react differently than you see their character behaving even if the reaction seems obvious.

    1. Example (Bad): Alfarinn walked up behind Megan and touched her lightly on the shoulder. He watched with a satisfied smirk as she jumped in surprise.

    2. Example (Good): Alfarinn walked up behind Megan, who seemed lost in thought. Gently touching her shoulder, he said, "You ok?"

This example lets Megan decide whether or not she knew he was coming. Granted, people don't like characters who are never surprised, but it is their duty to make their character believable, not yours.

21. You may not use Out Of Character (Out of Character) knowledge. This is information that you know that your character would not. This includes information in threads other than ones your character was present in and was not informed of. This also includes thoughts of another player that does not include their spoken word.

Examples: Information in a person's bio that they have not made known in game.

A thread in the city that they participated in that your character was not a part of.

Alfarinn watched the human approach him with the cross extended out in front of him. He could hear the man's muffled Latin and urgent pleas for protection. Perhaps he should pretend to be afraid, he needed information from this mortal and if the man thought he was safe then he might let the knowledge Alfarinn needed slip.

In this scene the human character would not know Alfarinn's thoughts and should not play as if he did.

These are the Out Of Character Guidelines for the Cauldron of Hate.
